Poem: Lullaby

Lullaby for Leonor

The clock is slowly ticking,
there’s no more time for two.
An end has reached a beginning
and I slowly think of you.

All alone we are,
alone in a mass of people.
A sturdy concrete wall
has no right for reason.

What little sense is left
from my meeting with the world,
today my heart has kept
away from the hurt

and closes in tightly
to give your heart a hug,
so that high and lightly
you’ll dream, warm and snug.
